5 1114(b)(1)(D) Requirement: High quality and ongoing professional development
Evidence: Ongoing professional development plan that supports administration, teachers, and paras to serve children and their needs.
5.1 Professional development, focused on standards, is offered to teachers on a limited basis. All certificated staff participate in professional development that focuses on enabling all students to meet state standards. The entire school community participates in high quality professional development that is focused on proven effective strategies that focus on student performance on the assessment of content standards.

Opportunities are provided for faculty to learn Omaha culture or language outside the classroom setting. During the summer of 2004 teachers attended a workshop by Sandra Fox designed to help teachers learn more about integrating Indian culture into the school curriculum and how best to conduct classroom instruction for students who have been brought up in a culture that teaches different interpersonal skills and learning styles than teachers generally expect. |
5.2 Professional development generally addresses the identified strategies and needs of the students. Professional development is designed to specifically address the identified needs of the building and the strategies in the plan. An ongoing professional development plan and process is in place to meet the targeted needs of all students and teachers through the identified strategies.
