Components of Title I Schoolwide Plan
The schoolwide plan is divided into 10 separate components. Each number will link to the appropriate information gathered for that particular component.
Much of the evidence to support each component can be found in the Title I notebook housed in the school library.
| 1 |
Comprehensive Needs Assessment Student data include norm-referenced test (NRT) and standards (STARS) results. Student data are disaggregated by Title I required subgroups and used in the analysis to plan instruction and improvement efforts. Qualifications of staff, which includes principals, teachers, paraprofessionals, and other staff, were considered and used. Parents/community needs were identified. The plan identifies existing improvement efforts. |
| 2 |
Schoolwide reform strategies Needs assessment data have been used to identify instructional strategies for demographic groups including migratory children. The scientifically based research strategies provide additional assistance to students failing to make progress on the standards. The plan includes strategies to address the needs of all children in the school, but particularly the needs of low-achieving children and those at-risk of not meeting the state standards and addresses how school will determine if such needs are being met. |
| 3 |
Instruction by highly qualified teachers Teachers are endorsed in the area of their assignment and certified to meet Nebraska's Rule 10 requirements. Paraprofessionals meet the NCLB requirements of either 48 credit hours from an accredited college, an associate degree from an accredited college, or have passed one of the approved state assessments. |
| 4 |
Strategies to attract highly qualified teachers Introductory training is offered to new staff. |
| 5 |
High quality and ongoing professional development Professional development, focused on standards, is offered to teachers on a limited basis. Professional development generally addresses the identified strategies and needs of the students. |
| 6 |
Strategies to increase parental involvement Parents/community members were involved in developing the schoolwide plan and strategies to increase parental involvement. All parents, students, and teachers have signed a compact. A parent policy, meeting Title I requirements, has been developed with parent input. At least one parent meeting/activity is held annually. |
| 7 |
Transition plan A transition plan is implemented between kindergarten and Head Start and/or other community preschool programs Activities assist students to transition between grade levels and buildings. A plan has been developed to orient new students to the school. The schoolwide transition plan reflects an awareness of cultural needs of new students. |
| 8 |
Teacher participation in assessment decisions Classroom teachers developed the STARS assessments of content standards. |
| 9 |
Strategies to address areas of need The plan identifies how certificated staff will be used to support implementation of the plan. The plan addresses opportunities to extend or increase learning time within and beyond the instructional day. |
| 10 |
Coordination and integration of Federal, State and local services and programs The plan describes how Title I funds will be used to support the plan. Coordination and integration of Federal, State, and local services and programs are used for improving student achievement. Community resources are considered in developing the plan. |
