Plants of the Omaha Indian Reservation
An Ethonobotanical Report

Samantha Goodbird

My name is Samantha Goodbird, I was born at St. Luke's regional Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa. I was born on October 2,1989; so that makes me seventeen years old. I have and Indian name, but I'm not sure how to spell it.  It means"yellow sacred moon". I don't have a clan because my Grandpa was French. I'm a mix of different tribes but I'm enrolled in the Omaha Tribe. I'm also Assinaboine Sioux, Three Affiliated, Ponca and Pawnee, which are the same thing.

My mom is Monica Walker and my dad is Arden Stabler Sr.. My grandparents on my mom's side are Martha Pappan and late Henry Pappan and on my dad's side Florence Stabler and Carol Stabler. My grandpa Henry died of a heart attack a month before I was born I wish I knew him. I'm not in any extracurricular activities, but I kind of wish I was. Last year I didn't want to be in any sports. This year I wanted to play volleyball but I couldn't because I was pregnant. I also wanted to play basketball but I really suck at it and I'm not kidding.

In the beginning I didn't want to take this class because I thought it was going to be really hard and I didn't want to look stupid. But now I think it is really easy and I thought is was kind cool to learn all the plants names. The part I didn't like was collecting them because I had allergies to the ragweed. When we got assigned the ethnobotany project I didn't want to do that either because I was trying to get caught up on my other work assigned in the class but, now that I'm almost done it was easy and at the same time I was still getting caught up on my other assignments
