This plant has an Indian name.

Description



Snow-on-the-Mountain can grow between 1 to 3.3 ft tall. The plant has flowers that are white that grow between 2 to 4 mm long.  Snow-on-the-Mountain grows from June to October. The leaves alternate blades and contain a milky juice which can cause skin irritation.

Habitat

Snow-on-the-Mountain can be found in central and eastern parts of Nebraska. It could be found along roadsides, floodplains, prairies, rangeland, and disturbed sites. On the Omaha Reservation this plant can be found by the Pow-Wow grounds and near the senior circle.



Uses

There are really not many uses for this plant. Some birds use this plant as a food source. Natives used the leaves crushed in warm water to reduce swelling. There were no other uses that could be found.
