Digitaria sanguinalis
American Indian name
The Indian name for this plant is nuzhi-pazhi-pa, there is only one name for this plant in the Omaha language. The name means medicine grass

Description This native summer annual, having a prostrate or ascending growth habit with stems that root at the nodes. The seed head composed of branches (spikes) at the top of stems, each approximately 1 ¢ to 7 inches long. Blooming period occurs during the summer and lasts about 1 to 2 months, it reprooduces by seeds. |

Location and habitat
The Large crabgrass is a major distribution in North America from canada south to virginia, kentuky, and Texas, usually not found in the lower south. The plant can be found in waste ground and cultivated fields all over. <>Use One report says the plant is edible but does not specify which part.</>
