COMER School Improvement Process at Umonhon Nation Public School
Comer School Improvement Process
In March 2005, six school members and
a community member traveled to Yale University in New Haven, CT for a
week-long training in the Comer School Development Process.
Umonhon Nation School was searching for a mechanism to guide the
organization of the Whole School Improvement process required by the
Native American High Performance Learning Communities initiative of the
Nebraska Department of Education.
The team found the Comer Process to be a good model
for use, as it created committees to set goals which addressed all
aspects of school achievement, including health and community
involvement--two issues which were noted to be of highest importance in
the school.
A list of the staff members assigned to the Comer
Committees follows, as does a Powerpoint presentation which is used as
in introduction to the Comer Process.
What is the Comer School Process?
